Sympathy & funeral flowers
The casket spray, the standing sprays, and everything sent to the house.
Funeral florists work on short timelines and know the conventions: the casket spray from immediate family, standing sprays and wreaths from close relatives, arrangements from friends sent to the service or the home. A local florist who regularly works with your funeral home will know the room, delivery windows, and what holds up through a two-day visitation. If the family prefers donations over flowers, the obituary line for that is standard — a good florist won't be offended.
When you’ll need them
Ordered two to four days before the service; sympathy arrangements to the home can come any time, including weeks later, when the house has gone quiet.
What it typically costs
Casket sprays typically $300–$700; standing sprays and wreaths $150–$400; sympathy arrangements $50–$150.
Typical U.S. ranges, for orientation only — prices vary widely by region and provider. Always ask for an itemized price list.
Questions worth asking
- Do you deliver to this funeral home, and have you worked with them?
- What will still look right on day two of a visitation?
- Can you match specific flowers the person loved?
