Programs, stationery & keepsakes
The order of service, the thank-you notes, and what people carry home.
Printers and stationers produce the service program, memorial cards, guest books, and the acknowledgment (thank-you) cards that follow. Keepsake makers work longer timelines: memorial jewelry holding a small portion of ashes, glass art, quilts from a closet of shirts, portrait commissions. None of it is urgent except the program — and the program is one of the things people keep for decades, so it's worth a careful proofread of names and dates.
When you’ll need them
Programs need 24–72 hours before the service. Thank-you cards go out in the weeks after. Keepsakes have no deadline at all — some are better a year later.
What it typically costs
Printed programs typically $100–$400 for a standard run; memorial cards similar. Cremation jewelry from about $50 to several hundred; commissioned keepsakes vary widely.
Typical U.S. ranges, for orientation only — prices vary widely by region and provider. Always ask for an itemized price list.
Questions worth asking
- What's your real turnaround, and can we proof before printing?
- For ash keepsakes: how much is needed, and how is it handled and returned?
- Can you match the program to photos and readings we already have?
